Cardiovascular disease remains leading cause of death globally: Study

The Global Burden of Disease (GBD) special report published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology provides an update on the global, regional, and national burden and trends of cardiovascular disease (CVD) from 1990-2022. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, dietary risks, and air pollution are identified as the leading causes of CVD cases. Four continents including Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East have reported the highest burden of CVD mortality.
