World severely off track to limit planet-heating emissions: UN

The United Nations has warned that the world is not doing enough to tackle climate change, as an assessment of climate pledges shows only minor progress in reducing emissions. The UN found that the combined climate plans of nearly 200 nations would only result in a 2% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, far short of the 43% decrease needed to limit warming to the Paris Agreement target of 1.5 degrees Celsius.
